Job Description:

The UKVI Compliance Team operates across the Group to ensure compliance with UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) regulations in the interest of safeguarding the Group’s Sponsorship Licence regarding students subject to immigration control. The UKVI Compliance Officer will provide a helpful and efficient first point of contact for guidance on Group visa processes and policy, and duties essential to maintaining compliance with UKVI guidance and the Immigration Rules.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Legal Counsel, Compliance Manager and with colleagues across the Group to ensure OIEG is fully compliant with its sponsorship licence duties.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of UKVI requirements and an overview of the Student route points-based system, engaging with training opportunities and ensuring that own knowledge and expertise is developed, and assisting in the training of others.
  • Generating CAS to support visa applications for current students (extension CAS).
  • Assisting in the Group’s registration process/visa checks and following up any missing documents.
  • Support the Attendance and Engagement team with the monitoring and tracking the attendance and engagement of UKVI sponsored students. Providing basic immigration information to prospective and current students.
  • Managing e-mails, telephone calls enquiries in connection with UKVI compliance duties.
  • Assisting in the development, production and dissemination of visa guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Organise and maintain Student route files, ensuring that all the correct documentation is readily available in the event of an audit.
  • Ensure reportable activity (such as student and institutional change of circumstances, work placements etc) is reported accurately and in a timely manner to UKVI using the Sponsorship Management System; maintain a database of all reports and respond to information requests from the UKVI in relation to sponsored Student route visa students.

Legal Status

  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent

Qualifications

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Experience and knowledge

  • Knowledge of UKVI regulations and requirements in relation to the Student route.
  • Methodical, detail-oriented, and flexible approach to work, maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent computing & IT skills.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work with proven decision-making ability.
  • Administration skills to plan and organise your time effectively.
  • Ability to work with high level of autonomy as well as a team member.
  • Experience of working with registry systems, e.g. SITS and/or SEAts.
  • Experience of working in UKVI compliance.
  • Extensive understanding of Student visa sponsorship duties.
  • Experience of using UKVI Sponsor management system (SMS).
  • Experience of working within the Higher Education Sector.
  • Experience of delivering good customer service.
  • Experience of working without direct supervision.
  • Previous administrative experience (Desirable)
  • Experience of working as part of a busy team in a pressurised environment.(Desirable)
