Role Summary

The Policy & Regulatory Affairs Manager will lead myenergi’s engagement across UK, European and Australian energy policy, ensuring the company’s technologies, customers, and strategic priorities are reflected in future regulation. Reporting directly to the Chief Innovation Officer, you’ll act as a bridge between government, industry bodies, and myenergi’s product and engineering teams. You’ll develop evidence‑based policy positions, respond to consultations, and represent myenergi in key industry forums on topics such as flexibility, interoperability, consumer protection, and clean power.

Responsibilities

  • Policy strategy & insight
    • Monitor UK, EU and Australian policy, regulation, and standards relevant to smart energy, EV charging, battery storage, electric heating and home energy management.
    • Analyse implications for myenergi’s products and markets, turning complex developments into clear, actionable recommendations.
    • Develop and maintain a strategic policy roadmap aligned with myenergi’s business objectives.
  • External affairs & representation
    • Lead engagement with government, regulators, and trade associations (e.g. BEAMA, REA, Solar Energy UK, EVCC).
    • Represent myenergi in working groups and consultations, ensuring our expertise informs policy design.
    • Prepare briefings, position papers, and responses to consultations for UK and EU institutions (e.g. Ofgem, DESNZ, DBT, European Commission).
  • Regulatory coordination
    • Support cross‑functional teams in understanding emerging compliance requirements (e.g. V2G, Cybersecurity, MID, CSIP‑Aus).
    • Maintain a structured register of relevant consultations, deadlines, and ongoing regulatory commitments.
    • Liaise with Product, Engineering and Compliance teams to align product roadmaps with future regulation.
  • Stakeholder management
    • Build and sustain relationships with policymakers, industry groups, and research partners.
    • Coordinate myenergi’s participation in roundtables, summits, and public affairs activity.
    • Act as internal point of contact for all policy and regulatory matters.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong understanding of UK and European energy or clean‑tech policy.
  • Experience in energy, clean‑tech, or smart energy policy roles, ideally within EV charging, battery storage, or home energy management sectors. Experience in government affairs is valuable but secondary to sector knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with ability to translate complex regulation into compelling narrative.
  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders externally and internally.
  • Analytical, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast‑moving innovation environment.
  • Degree in politics, economics, law, engineering, or a related discipline.
