Are you ready to elevate your financial reporting career? We are looking for a Recently Qualified Accountant who wants to grow their technical expertise, lead complex client engagements, and play an important role in a dynamic financial reporting team.
The opportunity
In this role, you will deepen your financial reporting knowledge while working with a broad range of clients, from ambitious SMEs to large, listed companies across multiple sectors. You will gain hands‑on experience delivering high‑quality financial statements and advisory services under UK GAAP and IFRS, supported by a team committed to your development.
You will take ownership of a portfolio of more complex clients, working closely with senior leaders to ensure timely, accurate, and high‑quality delivery, as well as leading ad‑hoc advisory projects in areas such as acquisition accounting, group restructures, and transitions between reporting standards.
Beyond technical delivery, you will help drive the strategic development of the regional financial reporting team, contributing to coaching, business development, and departmental performance.
What You Will Be Doing
Client delivery & technical leadership
- Lead client relationships with accountability for the commercial performance of engagements.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, responding proactively to their needs and maintaining regular communication throughout project delivery.
- Review statutory financial statements, consolidation models, and cash flow workings under FRS 102 and IFRS, ensuring high quality and adherence to deadlines.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and technical support to junior team members, acting as a go‑to contact for complex queries.
- Deliver advisory projects on technical accounting issues.
- Ensure adherence to risk management and quality control procedures.
Business development
- Identify and develop sales opportunities with both new and existing clients.
- Build internal and external networks to generate new business and raise the profile of the team.
- Scope new engagements, preparing fee proposals and project budgets.
- Support day‑to‑day pipeline management, ensuring opportunities are tracked and followed up proactively.
Team & operational management
- Play an active role in implementing and communicating business strategy for both existing and target clients.
- Contribute to the delivery of the team’s strategic growth plan.
- Support departmental management through resource planning, billing, and WIP management.
- Mentor junior staff through formal and on‑the‑job training, offering constructive feedback and acting as a role model.
What You Will Bring
- ACA/ACCA qualification.
- Experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, UK‑adopted IFRS.
- Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, consolidations, and cash flows.
- Demonstrated ability to research and resolve technical accounting matters.
- Commercial awareness with experience in business development activities.
- Ability to prioritise, plan, and work under pressure with a logical, methodical approach.
