Principal Design Engineer

Overview

Kingston upon Thames, Surrey – 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week from home. Initial 12-month contract. Role will provide long-term work. Two Principal Design Engineers are required to support an initial 12-month contract based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey with hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

As a Principal Design Engineer, you will have the ability to work on an outside IR35 contract basis.

You will ideally have a strong subsea pipelines background with experience in spools design and FE analysis.

Responsibilities

• Primary involvement in detailed FE analysis with general subsea pipeline and spools design activities, including wall thickness, stability, bottom roughness and freespan.
• Comprehensive understanding of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics and fatigue, as well as installation and constructability aspects of pipeline systems.
• Extensive experience in subsea engineering with knowledge of typical subsea software tools.

Qualifications and Software

• Degree qualified in civil, structural or mechanical discipline.
• FEA software Orcaflex, ANSYS, ABAQUS (2D shell and 3D solid elements) and hand calculations. Knowledge of DNV SESAM, Sage Profile 2D and AutoPIPE will be a benefit.
