About The Role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join our outstanding Major Projects team and work at our Old Oak Common development in London – join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.
HS2’s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK’s best‑connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London. Upon completion the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line and provide high‑speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. The station will incorporate passenger and retail facilities to provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors.

What you’ll be doing

• Weekly and monthly updates on programme/reporting
• Managing Contractor and Subcontract programmes
• Preparation/submission of documents and reports
• Analysis and optimisation of labour resource and histograms
• Tracking key design interfaces
• Monitoring progress during construction, KPIs, re‑programming if required
• Preparation of compensation events programmes and narrative
• Attend and lead package review meetings as required
• Production and presentation of progress reports for programme submission
• Tracking progressive assurance of design certification
• Assist with procurement planning with design requirements
• Presentation/dissemination of project programme philosophy and strategy

Who we’re looking for

• Engineering HNC or equivalent
• Advanced Primavera user – 3+ years’ experience
• MS Office suite, inc. MS Office
• Understanding and experience of gated design/assurance processes: GRIP, RIBA
• Planning – at least 3 years in Design/Assurance
• Experience of NEC contract management
• Excellent presentation skills at all levels
• Client and subcontract engagement
• Critical / multiple path and float analysis using forward/backward‑pass planning techniques
• Summarising schedules to POAPs and milestones for reporting at various levels
