Job Title: Senior EC&I EngineerLocation: Maidstone (Hybrid working available)
Overview:An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join a growing engineering environment delivering complex plant-based projects. This role will involve leading EC&I activities across the full project lifecycle, from design through to commissioning and handover, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate EC&I engineering activities across multiple projectsDevelop, review, and approve electrical, control, and instrumentation designs and documentationEnsure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g. ATEX, GAMP, IEC, BS/EN)Oversee the selection and integration of EC&I systems in line with safety and process requirementsWork closely with subcontractors, site teams, and engineers to ensure successful deliveryCarry out risk assessments and contribute to HAZOP and safety reviewsSupport commissioning, testing, and validation of systemsTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning phasesCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, process, and project teamsProvide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineersRequirements:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, or similarMinimum of 8 years’ experience in EC&I engineeringProven experience delivering projects from concept through to commissioningStrong knowledge of industry standards such as ATEX, GAMP, IEC 61511, and BS7671Experience with PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and industrial control systemsKnowledge of hazardous area design and instrumentationExperience managing contractors and working with multiple stakeholdersStrong problem-solving and communication skillsDesirable:
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towardsExperience with BMS, automation, or smart manufacturing technologiesFamiliarity with design software such as AutoCAD or Trimble ProdesignInterest in energy efficiency and sustainable design
