Infrastructure Engineer – VCF / Cisco Nexus / MOD High Security Clearance£550 per day outside IR35Somerset8 month initial contractHighest UK security Clearance required
Building something properly from the ground up rarely comes along. This is a hands on role shaping the foundational layer of a secure, high assurance private cloud, where the engineering matters and the standards are uncompromising.
The focus initially is a six month build phase, standing up the physical and logical infrastructure that underpins a new private cloud environment. That moves into a further two months of data migration, working closely with Windows Server environments to bring everything into production cleanly and securely.
What you will be doing
You will be designing and bringing to life a high performance, secure infrastructure stack. That includes configuring Cisco Nexus leaf and spine networks for low latency throughput, standing up and securing NetApp storage with encryption at rest, and building hardened Hyper V clusters to support core services such as AD, DNS and PKI.There is also a strong integration element, supporting VMware Cloud Foundation enablement alongside managing hardware security components including HSM and KMS, where you will lead key ceremonies in a high assurance environment. Alongside this, you will be physically involved in the build, ensuring rack and stack and cabling meets strict security standards.
What matters here is experience delivering in secure, complex environments. Strong hands on capability across Cisco Nexus or similar, NetApp ONTAP, Hyper V, and VMware Cloud Foundation is essential. Exposure to hardware based cryptography and modern Windows Server environments will also be key.
This is a role for someone who enjoys building properly engineered platforms from first principles, in an environment where quality and security are non negotiable and the work will stand up to scrutiny long after delivery.
