Role Overview
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a pivotal role within the FP&A function, driving strategic decision‑making through robust financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis. This position offers broad exposure across the finance and business planning landscape, giving you the chance to work closely with senior leadership and contribute to initiatives that shape the company’s long‑term direction. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across a diverse range of responsibilities, making this an ideal role for someone looking to accelerate their development in a high‑growth environment.
Responsibilities
- Overhead rates management – Develop, maintain, and refine business overhead rate structures to support pricing, planning, and cost allocation.
- Financial planning, analysis, and forecasting – Deliver accurate budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range planning to support strategic decision‑making.
- Business partnering – Collaborate closely with Heads of Department and project management teams, providing financial insight and challenge to drive performance.
- Project finance control and reporting – Oversee financial governance across assigned projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, variance analysis, and timely reporting to support effective project delivery.
- Process and systems improvement – Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and strengthen internal controls.
- Strategic support – Contribute to strategic initiatives, scenario modelling, and decision support for senior leadership.
- Contract pricing support – Assist with pricing exercises for new and existing contracts, ensuring financial robustness and competitiveness.
- Other ad‑hoc financial analysis – Provide insightful analysis as required to support operational and strategic priorities across the business.
Qualifications and Experience
- Professional finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a project‑based defence or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of project‑based accounting and earned value management (EVM) principles.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience using ERP systems and reporting tools such as SAP, Infor LN, IFS, Deltek Cobra, Hyperion, or similar.
- Proven track record of collaborating effectively with management teams across an organisation.
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
