An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Learning Disability Nurse to join the learning disability and autism team on a fixed‑term contract. We are looking for a motivated and committed nurse with a passion for improving the experience and clinical outcomes of our patients and who inspires others to provide excellent patient care. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Band 5 Learning Disability Nurse or a Newly Qualified Learning Disability Nurse to gain valuable experience supporting patients in an acute hospital setting, working alongside a supportive team.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The Learning Disability and Autism team has a strong focus on delivering person‑centred care in collaboration with all services across the acute setting for patients with learning disabilities and autistic patients.
- Holistically assess and identify health and psychosocial needs of individual patients
- Plan programmes of care to meet these needs, in partnership with the patient, their carers and colleagues to support their hospital treatment pathway
- Train learners and other nursing staff, acting as a knowledgeable resource to the patient group
- Support and participate in the workstreams set out in the learning disability and autism workplan
- Challenge professional and organisational boundaries in the interest of patients and clients and to improve health outcomes
Person Specification
- The candidate must be confident to work under pressure and demonstrate good leadership and organisational skills
- Service runs Monday to Friday core working hours
Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
- Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
- Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
- Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
- Understanding of personal accountability
- Knowledge of own role within the team
- Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
- Awareness of evidence‑based practice
- Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
- Evidence of on‑going personal development
- Able to use initiative
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of recent study
- Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty
- Teaching experience
