Are you a registered dietitian looking for an opportunity in a community learning disability team? Are you passionate about working within an MDT and supporting people with learning disabilities? If so, this exciting role may be for you!

We are pleased to advertise the role of a Senior Dietitian to provide specialist assessment of nutrition as part of a community learning disability team. This is a skilled post where the post holder will gain and utilise specialist knowledge working alongside highly experienced LD dietitians.

The postholder will work closely alongside the MDT which includes learning disability nurses, medics, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as an autonomous practitioner to advise on the dietary management of service users on a specialist caseload.
  • With appropriate postgraduate training assess, treat and manage own caseload of service users in the designated specialist area, with support as necessary from senior colleagues.
  • To promote the ethos of self‑management and prevention to service users, staff and carers to prevent nutritional problems, medical conditions and complications.
  • Provide advice, training and support to other health & social care professionals.
  • Liaise with dietetic colleagues and other members of multidisciplinary teams as necessary e.g. medical, nursing, catering and other health and social care professionals.

Qualifications

  • Registration with Health & Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of relevant CPD
  • Membership of BDA
  • Good organisational skills
  • Able to identify when to seek support
  • Demonstrates ability to reflect on practice with peers/clinical supervisor
  • Dietetics degree

Knowledge

  • Good written communication
  • Good verbal communication
  • Good IT skills
  • Good organisational skills

Experience

  • Previous relevant experience working as a registered dietitian
  • Clinical experience with transferable skills to a LD caseload
  • Experience in educating, training and presenting to patient groups and staff
  • Experience in clinical supervision of dietetic students
  • Experience in designated specialist area
  • Experience of undertaking elements of clinical governance projects/work

Other

  • Car driver/owner (It is unlikely that public transport will meet this requirement).
