Our client based in Poole has an immediate requirement for an experienced Shift Engineer to join their established maintenance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on carrying out timely, professional repairs and planned maintenance on all manufacturing site equipment. The Shift Engineer will take the lead in health and safety and be a technical resource for the operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively and efficiently provide reactive support, planned maintenance and continuous improvements on equipment throughout the factory units.
- Update the engineering maintenance system to provide feedback on completed tasks to ensure equipment histories and costs are kept up to date, enabling follow up work to be identified and planned.
- Maintain all aspects of the plant relating to M&E, control and automation to ensure reliability, integrity and efficiency.
- Ensure engineering spares are accurately booked on shift to maintain correct stock levels and minimise equipment downtime.
- Work safely by applying sound engineering principles and safe systems of work such as isolations, permit to work, risk assessment, while working across a diverse range of equipment and associated hazards.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company and statutory standards to guarantee compliance of equipment and processes.
- Communicate effectively with the engineering teams at shift handovers to ensure continuity of technical issues across shifts, enabling informed decisions.
- Adhere to safe systems of work processes and act safely at all times to protect the health and safety of yourself and others.
- Serve as a member of the site Fire Evacuation Team.
Qualifications
Applicants will have extensive and recent experience working as a maintenance engineer in a manufacturing environment. A nationally recognised qualification in mechanical (NVQ L2) and/or electrical qualifications (City and Guilds L3 Diploma) is required, along with a broad knowledge of modern maintenance techniques and practical engineering fundamentals.
Shift and Working Hours
Work on a 4‑shift rotation which includes early (06:00‑14:00), late (14:00‑22:00) and night (22:00‑06:00). The position is permanent.
