Job Description:

Due to continuing success and growth, we are actively seeking an experienced Design Engineer to work within our Hi-Store division. This position will involve working on Structural steel & Mezzanine floor projects from conception through structural design and supporting during manufacture and installation. The successful candidate will be responsible for structural design using relevant industry software and creation of detailed fabrication and installation drawings, collaborating on various projects. The ideal candidate will have relevant industry experience with 2D AutoCAD and modelling and drawing creation using 3D Advance Steel, alongside a degree or HNC/HND in engineering. Responsibilities will include surveying sites, producing mezzanine designs, drawings, and supporting project documentation. This position will be reporting into the Head Of Structural Solutions within our Hi-Store division and will be mainly office based in Pinxton; Nottinghamshire, however, requires a UK driving license and willingness to travel for surveying work across the UK when necessary.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Structural & Mezzanine Floor Design: Confidently collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to interpret requirements and formulate suitable designs using relevant industry design software
  • Staircase Design: Be well versed with current building regulations and British standards and able to design and specify suitable staircase options for various project applications.
  • CAD Design: Be a confident and competent AutoCAD and Advance Steel user experienced in structural steel modelling. Must be capable of modelling Mezzanine floors, edge protection and other related ancillary items.
  • Experienced in: Detailed fabrication drawing production & editing.
  • Experienced in: Detailed installation layout drawing production.
  • Communication: Able to communicate clearly and openly with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Site Surveying: Be confident in attending sites across the UK to carry out survey work and measurement checking when necessary.
  • To work as part of an established and highly experienced team.
  • Software Proficiency: Must be experienced and competent with Microsoft office, AutoCAD and Advance Steel. Experience with Multisuite MezzQUOTE & MezzDESIGN software desirable but not essential.

PERSON PROFILE

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years Design Engineer experience in a real-world environment.
  • Mezzanine floor experience is essential.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic and technical drawings.
  • Ability to produce accurate 2D sales drawings.
  • Ability to produce accurate Advance Steel models, fabrication drawings & BOM lists.
  • Strong team player, with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Impeccable organisation and time management skills.
  • Able to prioritise and act decisively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to self-motivate against demanding targets and tight deadlines.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure.

HOURS OF WORK

08:30-17:00 Monday-Thursday with 1-hour lunch, 08:00-16:00 on a Friday with ½ hour lunch. The hours of work are subject to change to suit the needs of the business, and you must have a willingness to be flexible when necessary.

HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT

You will be entitled to 23 holidays per year in addition to any statutory bank holidays. Three days will be expected to be saved for closure over the Christmas period. Holidays are accrued throughout the current year.
