Trainee Fire Commissioning Engineer

We are now seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Trainee Fire Commissioning Engineer to join our team based in London and surrounding postcodes. This is an entry‑level role designed to provide hands‑on training and development in the commissioning, testing, and maintenance of fire detection and life safety systems.

Job Purpose

  • To support in system commissioning works within the area in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Assist in commissioning fire alarm and life safety systems on commercial sites.
  • Support senior engineers with system testing, fault finding, and validation.
  • Learn to interpret drawings, specifications, and cause & effect documentation.
  • Participate in functional testing of fire detection, voice alarm, and associated systems.
  • Assist with programming and configuration of fire alarm control panels.
  • Support the preparation of commissioning documentation and handover reports.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate site records and commissioning reports.
  • Follow all health and safety requirements on site.
  • Attend and complete relevant training courses and system certifications.

About You

  • An interest in fire safety systems.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good communication skills.

Not essential but would be beneficial

  • Electrical qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent)
  • Experience working on construction, commercial or industrial sites
  • Basic understanding of fire safety systems
