Role Overview
An established Tier 1 main contractor delivering a multi‑billion‑pound UK data centre programme is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and drive best‑in‑class safety performance across multiple live projects nationwide. This is a high‑impact role focused on embedding a proactive safety culture within fast‑paced, technically complex construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the company Health & Safety strategy across UK data centre projects
- Provide expert H&S guidance to project teams, senior leadership, and supply chain partners
- Ensure full compliance with UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and company standards
- Conduct site audits, inspections, and incident investigations, producing detailed reports and corrective actions
- Drive behavioural safety initiatives and promote a positive safety culture on site
- Review RAMS and support pre‑construction planning from a safety perspective
- Liaise with clients, regulators, and third‑party stakeholders on H&S matters
- Monitor performance metrics and produce monthly H&S reports
- Support training, toolbox talks, and workforce engagement programmes
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager within major construction or data centre projects
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum)
- Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH or CMIOSH preferred)
- Experience working for a Tier 1 main contractor highly desirable
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple sites/projects
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally
Desirable
- Experience in mission‑critical or data centre environments
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- ISO 45001 audit experience
- Temporary works or M&E exposure
