Our client is a leading theatre operator with a portfolio of high-profile venues across the UK and internationally. Known for delivering world-class productions and exceptional audience experiences, the organisation plays a key role in shaping the live entertainment landscape.
The Role
We are supporting the search for a Theatre Director to lead one of the client’s flagship London venues. This is a senior leadership role for the overall commercial, operational, and cultural success of the theatre.
Reporting into senior leadership, you will oversee all aspects of venue performance, balancing artistic integrity with commercial delivery in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall strategy and performance of a major London theatre venue
- Drive commercial success across ticketing, F&B, and venue hires
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring exceptional audience experiences
- Manage and develop a senior leadership team across key functions
- Deliver strong financial performance, including budgeting and P&L ownership
- Build relationships with producers, partners, and key stakeholders
Team Leadership
- Direct management of Heads of Marketing, Operations, Technical Production, and Creative Learning
- Leadership of c.20 permanent staff and c.80 regular freelance/contract staff
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and inclusive culture
About You
- Proven leadership experience within theatre, live entertainment, or venue management
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving revenue growth
- Experience managing large, multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to balance creative vision with operational excellence
- Skilled in stakeholder management, both internal and external
- Passion for delivering outstanding live experiences
