National Account Manager – Retail

Location: North of England (Remote with travel)

Business Area: Commercial

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + benefits

The Opportunity

A growing and ambitious Scottish food manufacturer is looking to appoint a National Account Manager – Retail to support continued expansion across major grocery accounts.

This is a key commercial role focused on managing and developing retail partnerships, delivering sustainable growth, and taking full ownership of account performance.

The role is home-based in the North of England, with regular travel to customers and head office as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop major grocery retail accounts
  • Own and deliver Joint Business Plans (JBPs)
  • Lead pricing, promotional planning and trade spend management
  • Manage full account P&L, delivering volume and margin targets
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and demand planning alignment
  • Identify and secure new listings and distribution opportunities
  • Manage product launches in collaboration with NPD, Supply Chain and Marketing
  • Maintain strong retailer relationships at buyer and category level
  • Manage retailer portals, price files and reporting requirements
  • Drive long-term account strategy aligned to business growth plans

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a National Account Manager within FMCG
  • Strong major grocery retail exposure
  • Experience delivering JBPs and managing trade spend
  • Confident negotiator with strong commercial acumen
  • Numerate, analytical and comfortable managing forecasts
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proactive, self-motivated and growth-focused
  • Chilled food experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
