Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled High Voltage Installation Engineer to lead and supervise the installation of high-voltage electrical systems on substation projects across the UK. As a High Voltage Installation Engineer, you will manage site teams, ensure safety and quality compliance, and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with a background in electrical or mechanical engineering and a passion for delivering complex high-voltage projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on Installation Engineer looking to take ownership of critical substation works and make an impact on the UK’s power infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the installation of AIS busbars up to 400kV.
- Oversee installation of HV equipment including CTs, CVTs, busbars, post insulators, and support structures.
- Plan work efficiently, organizing plant, materials, and site facilities to meet project deadlines.
- Resolve technical issues and unexpected challenges during installation.
- Ensure all work is carried out according to approved RAMS, ITPs, and check sheets.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and client representatives for smooth site execution.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to site teams.
- Review and maintain accurate documentation of all installation works.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a High Voltage Installation Engineer in substation works.
- Competence in installing AIS systems up to 400kV.
- Experience installing HV equipment and components.
- Strong knowledge of documentation processes including RAMS, ITPs, and check sheets.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
- Experience in transformer and GIS installation.
- National Grid authorisations.
- Previous work with National Grid, SSE, or Scottish Power.
- Relevant electrical or engineering qualifications.
