Job Summary
The Air Freight Assistant Manager ensures smooth end-to-end import operations and collaborates with department managers to implement strategic air freight initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Monitor daily import activities including shipment documentation, carrier coordination, customs compliance, billing, and job closure to ensure operational accuracy
- Enforce adherence to established processes and service standards to maintain consistent quality and compliance
- Identify operational and system issues, assist in implementing process improvements, and support initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency and effectiveness
- Coordinate with Airfreight Operations, Customs, and other departments to facilitate seamless execution of import shipments
- Supervise staff managing all stages of the import process from shipment receipt to delivery and billing, ensuring team performance and customer satisfaction
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with Cargo Wise system to support import workflow management
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to lead a team and manage customer discussions and interactions
