International Policy Manager Role Profile

The International Policy Manager will lead ICAEW’s policy development work across international markets, with particular focus on Europe, North America and South East Asia. The postholder will monitor policy and regulatory developments in international markets, work closely with ICAEW’s International team and international members, and ensure the organisation’s positions are communicated effectively to policymakers, regulators, and partners in priority markets. The role is central to strengthening the organisation’s global influence, supporting members internationally, and contributing to a coherent, evidence-based policy voice.

International Policy Manager Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor, research and analyse policy, regulatory and legislative developments in Europe, North America and South East Asia, assessing their implications for members
  • Draft high-quality policy positions, consultation responses, and briefing notes, ensuring consistency with organisational priorities
  • Represent the organisation to international policymakers, regulators, standard setters, professional bodies and other stakeholders.
  • Partner with regional offices, member groups, and international committees to ensure alignment of policy priorities.
  • Support the delivery of the organisation’s Direction 2030, particularly its emphasis on ‘Reinforce our role as an internationally recognised Institute through targeted presence and engagement’, and international objectives.

International Policy Manager Requirements include:

  • Strong experience in policy, regulatory affairs, public affairs, or related roles, with an international dimension.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex policy issues and develop clear, persuasive positions.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to build trusted relationships across cultures and geographies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international policy environments, particularly in Europe, North America and/or South East Asia.
