My client is looking for a Laser Systems Engineer who will support laser operations for their quantum processing platform. As the Laser Systems Engineer, you will act as the UK laser lead, and maintain and improve laser system performance on site.
Responsibilities
• Lead local laser support at the UK site
• Maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade Class 4 laser systems
• Coordinate with global laser teams on updates and deployments
• Provide first‑response support for laser issues and ensure system uptime
• Contribute to local R&D work and vendor engagement
• Support global laser fleet continuity across international sites
• Maintain safe operation, documentation and standard procedures
Requirements
• Degree in physics, electrical engineering, photonics or related field
• Minimum three years hands on Class 4 laser experience
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex optical systems
• Lab or production environment experience
• Ability to lift and handle heavy laser hardware
• Fluent in English
Preferred qualifications
• Experience with Ti:sapphire, SHG, diode lasers or fibre amplifiers
• Familiarity with frequency stabilisation techniques
• Experience with laser subsystems for atomic physics
• Strong documentation and communication skills
