Planner – Residential Housing Developer

Due to ongoing expansion, they are looking to appoint a Planner to join their technical function.
The Opportunity
- This is a key position within the business, supporting the progression of residential schemes from early-stage acquisition through to site delivery. You’ll take ownership of the planning process across a number of developments, ensuring applications are managed efficiently and approvals are secured in line with programme requirements.
- You’ll be working closely with internal departments and external partners, playing a vital role in driving projects forward and overcoming planning challenges.
- This role would suit someone who is organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple live sites within a fast-moving environment.
Key Duties
- Oversee planning activities across a portfolio of residential developments from pre-application through to approval
- Prepare and submit planning applications, including amendments and reserved matters
- Engage with local authorities, consultants, architects and other stakeholders to progress applications
- Manage planning conditions, S106 agreements and discharge requirements
- Provide planning guidance to internal teams including land, technical, commercial and construction
- Attend project meetings, design reviews and planning discussions
- Identify potential risks within the planning process and implement solutions
- Assist in developing planning strategies, timelines and internal reporting
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within company systems
- Stay informed on planning policy updates and legislative changes
About You
- Previous experience in a planning role within housing or residential development, or council background
- Solid understanding of UK planning policy and procedures
- Experience handling planning applications across multiple sites
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Well organised, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines
- A solutions-driven mindset with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and relevant planning systems
