Overview
UHCW NHS Trust, a leading teaching hospital, seeks a Specialty Dermatology Doctor to support first‑class dermatology services across multiple sites. The role involves clinical duties, teaching, audit and participation in the Trust’s improvement programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment, investigation and treatment planning for patients referred to the service.
- Provide a range of clinical interventions, including skin surgery, cryotherapy, and oral/topical treatments.
- Contribute to general dermatology clinics, specialist clinics, minor surgery clinics and inpatient reviews.
- Provide prompt dermatology opinions on request from other specialties.
- Attend and contribute to weekly skin cancer MDT meetings.
- Join a weekday daytime (9 am–5 pm) on‑call rota shared with dermatology specialty registrars.
- Optional 1:6 out‑of‑hours non‑resident on‑call rota (weekday evenings 5–8 pm and weekends 9 am–5 pm).
- Provide telephone advice or review patients during out‑of‑hours if requested.
- Teach and supervise junior staff, including undergraduates, nurses and allied health professionals.
- Attend clinical governance meetings and contribute to the audit programme.
- Support local practitioners/nurses/colleagues with dermatological conditions.
Core Competencies & Requirements
- Evidence of knowledge and skills relevant to dermatology.
- Strong communication skills and competence in teaching and training.
- Proof of audit experience and a training record.
- Commitment to maintaining skills through courses and self‑directed learning.
- Effective teamwork and collaborative working.
- Completion of required training programmes (Lean for Leaders, Advanced Lean Training, Human Factors Programme, etc.).
Commitment to Improvement
The successful candidate must attend and complete identified training and development opportunities, including Lean for Leaders and Human Factors Programme, as prerequisites for the post.
