To support the Home Manager in the day-to-day running of the care home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with regulatory requirements. The Deputy Manager will develop their skills and knowledge with a future Opportunity for progression.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Assist in the overall management of the care home to ensure smooth and efficient operation
- Act in the absence of the Home Manager, taking responsibility for the service
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
- Support with audits, inspections, and quality assurance processes
Care Delivery
- Promote and maintain high standards of person-centred care
- Ensure care plans and risk assessments are accurate, up to date, and reflective of residents’ needs
- Monitor care practices to ensure dignity, respect, and safeguarding at all times
- Respond to incidents, complaints, and safeguarding concerns appropriately
Staff Management
- Support recruitment, induction, supervision, and appraisal of staff
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the care team
- Assist with staff training and development, ensuring mandatory training is completed
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional working environment
Compliance & Quality
- Support the home in achieving and maintaining compliance with CQC standards
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Participate in internal audits and implement improvements where required
Resident & Family Engagement
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, and external professionals
- Ensure effective communication regarding care and any changes in condition
- Support residents’ wellbeing, activities, and quality of life
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a senior care role within a residential or nursing home
- Strong knowledge of care standards, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements
- Experience in leading or supervising staff
- Good communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexibly, including on-call duties if required
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (essential)
- NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or currently working towards)
- Willingness to complete further training relevant to the role
