- To be considered for this strategically important role, it is essential that you meet the following requirements:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting,Business, or related field; professional qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, CPA orequivalent) preferred.
- Significant experience as a FinanceBusiness Partner, Project Accountant, or Commercial Finance Analyst withinthe construction or infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of projectcosting, revenue recognition (including percentage-of-completion), WIP, andcommercial contracting.
- Advanced financial modelling and Excelskills; ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication, stakeholdermanagement, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work on‑site with projectteams and handle multiple large-scale projects.
Experience supporting large capitalprojects (e.g., civil engineering, rail, utilities, real estate development).Familiarity with construction ERPsystems (e.g., AS4U, RIB ITWO, Asite).Knowledge of procurement, subcontractormanagement, and contract change control processes.

- As STRABAG UK continues to strengthen its operations in the northeast of England particularly on the Woodsmith mining project, it is essential that we build our finance team in the area. Apart from Woodsmith, there are many other opportunities which we are targeting on Teeside. At this stage then, we wish to a appoint a Senior Finance Business Partner, whose key responsibilities will be as follows:
- 1. FinancialPlanning, Forecasting & ReportingLead monthly project financialreviews, including variance analysis, cash flow forecasting, and budgetreconciliations.Prepare accurate and timelymanagement reporting for project directors, site managers, and seniorleadership.Maintain rolling forecasts and long‑termfinancial models reflecting project progress, risks, and commercialassumptions.Monitor project performance againstKPIs such as cost-to-complete, margin, WIP, productivity, and cash flow.
- 2. BusinessPartnering & Commercial SupportWork closely with project managers,quantity surveyors, procurement teams, and commercial managers to alignfinancial decisions with project objectives.Provide financial insight forpricing, tender evaluation, contract negotiations, and change orders.Support commercial strategy,identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements acrossthe project lifecycle.Act as a trusted advisor to seniorstakeholders, challenging assumptions and influencing decisions based ondata-driven insights.
- 3. ProjectAccounting & ControlsOversee project cost tracking,accruals, revenue recognition, and margin management.Ensure financial processes complywith accounting standards, company policy, and construction industryregulations.Support audit activities and upholdstrong internal controls, particularly around subcontractor management andprocurement.Manage WIP reporting, claims,variations, and project close-out financials.
- 4. Risk,Compliance & GovernanceIdentify financial and operationalrisks and develop mitigation strategies with project leadership.Support compliance with contractualobligations, insurance, and financial governance requirements.Perform scenario modelling andsensitivity analysis to support risk-based decision‑making.Manage bank guarantees and othersecurities to minimise risk and exposure.Ensure insurances are maintainedand coordinate any insurance cases with corporate function.
- 5. Systems,Data & Continuous ImprovementDrive process improvementinitiatives across forecasting, reporting, and project performancemanagement.Leverage financial systems (e.g.,ERP, project costing tools) to enhance data quality and reportingefficiency.Provide training andsupport to project teams to strengthen financial acumen and cost discipline.
