Voltempo is developing rapid DC Hypercharging solutions for a range of commercial vehicle sectors, initially here in the UK, but progressively internationally as the transport sector electrifies. The company holds several international patents, it is engaged in the end-to-end design, supply, site commissioning and servicing of charging solutions, targeting commercial vehicles. The business is currently scaling and is well supported by both its international shareholders and its role under the UK Government eFreight2030 programme, where it is leading a consortium of UK logistics fleet operators to deploy the UK’s first eHGV charging network.

Job Summary:

We are seeking aCivil Infrastructure Design Engineerto lead the design and development of thecivil and site infrastructure required for high-power Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) installations.

This role will take ownership of thecivil and infrastructure design for EV charging sites, including site layouts, cable ducting networks, trenching strategies, foundations, and supporting infrastructure required for installation of our HyperCharger and 3 rd party EVSE.

The successful candidate will work closely withDNOs, IDNOs, ICPs, contractors, and project teams to deliver practical and compliant infrastructure designs that minimise risk, cost and delivery schedule from concept through to construction.

This is a hands-on technical role, requiring an engineer capable of working independently, leading civil design activities, and coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders across multiple EV infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Civil Infrastructure Design Leadership

  • Lead thecivil and infrastructure design for EVSE installations, including:
  • Cable ducting and trenching networks
  • Charger and equipment foundations
  • Access roads, hardstanding areas, and equipment bases
  • Drainage considerations and groundworks
  • Developsite layouts and infrastructure designs for our HyperCharger and 3 rd party EVSE
  • Produce and reviewdetailed civil drawings, including:
  • Duct routing layouts
  • Trench cross-sections

Utility & Electrical Infrastructure Coordination

  • Coordinate withDNOs, IDNOs, and ICPsto facilitate LV and HV electrical connections from the point of connection (PoC) to charging infrastructure.

Site Assessment & Feasibility

  • Conduct and/or managesite surveys and feasibility assessmentsto determine infrastructure requirements and constraints.
  • Evaluateground conditions, access requirements, and construction considerations.
  • Providetechnical input into site selection and infrastructure planning.

Project Delivery & Technical Oversight

  • Take ownership of civil design deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Leaddesign reviews and value engineeringto optimise constructability and cost.
  • Support preparation ofmethod statements, risk assessments, and construction documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, contractors, and suppliers during design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Interface with the customer as required to facilitate an optimised design that meets their needs

Qualifications & Experience

  • BEng / BSc inCivil Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience designing utility infrastructure, cable ducting, trenching, or similar civil works.
  • Strong proficiency inAutoCAD (2D).
  • Experience coordinating with utility providers or electrical infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Ability tolead design workstreams and deliver projects independently.
  • Experience inEV charging infrastructure or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with or alongsideDNOs, IDNOs, or ICPs.
  • Experience inrenewables, highways, utilities, or power infrastructure.
  • Experience usingAutodesk Inventor.
  • Knowledge of high-power charging systems and site planning for EV infrastructure.
  • Strongcivil and infrastructure design capability
  • Ability totranslate engineering concepts into practical, buildable solutions
  • ExcellentCAD drawing and technical detailing skills
  • Experienceleading and coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Strongproblem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Effectivestakeholder communication and collaboration

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Working Conditions:

Hybrid role with office and site responsibilities.

Travel to various EV infrastructure sites across the region.
