Description

Are you excited about partnering with UK Central Government departments to deliver large‑scale, high‑visibility programmes? Do you excel at applying programme management disciplines to drive strategic initiatives that shape how government organisations leverage cloud technology? If so, the AWS Global Government Delivery Organisation is looking for a Sr. Programme Manager with a proven record of delivering complex programmes in government environments.

This position focuses on delivering AWS services to UK Central Government customers, including HMRC, DWP, the Home Office, the Cabinet Office and other ministerial departments. The role requires strong governance, stakeholder management and cross‑functional leadership to solve complex problems. You will own end‑to‑end programme delivery—from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring and closure—ensuring successful outcomes. You will establish PMOs, define governance structures and scale delivery models across the UK public sector, while ensuring strict compliance with UK Government security, data protection and regulatory requirements.

The role involves leading diverse teams—sales, capture, business operations, legal, cybersecurity, solution architects, AWS Professional Services and external partners and subcontractors. You will regularly communicate with senior management and C‑level executives on project status, performance, budget, risks, compliance posture and strategic direction.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience delivering large‑scale solutions to UK Central Government, has management capabilities, can develop comprehensive project plans and manage multiple concurrent programmes with significant organisational dependencies, external partner coordination and budgets exceeding £5M. Experience managing compliance requirements including security clearances, data protection regulations and government‑specific frameworks is essential.

UK Government Security Clearance is required for this role (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels).
