Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Engineering to work on Sustainability of Production and the Built Environment.
Location & Working Patterns
Post holder located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK. Remote or hybrid working patterns will also be considered.
Role Summary
The new Assistant Research Professor supports a portfolio of research activities on knowledge transfer of best practices from sustainable manufacturing into other production environments, including manufacturing, construction, and infrastructure, both directly with industrial partners and with government and industrial bodies. The role includes analysis of data, writing academic and industry publications, leading the writing and submission of grant applications, and developing networks to disseminate learnings from research into real‑world applications. Experience with AI/ML techniques to find patterns in large industrial data sets to identify opportunities for efficiency is key to this role.
Responsibilities
- Analyse data and help write academic and industry publications.
- Lead the writing and submission of grant applications.
- Develop networks to disseminate learnings from research into real‑world applications.
- Communicate findings and insights to real‑world practitioners from industrial, policy, and other non‑academic stakeholder groups.
Qualifications & Experience
- PhD in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience as a postdoctoral research associate or equivalent, with proven impact from authored publications.
- Experience working in industrial, academic, and startup environments, spanning both manufacturing and construction and infrastructure sectors.
- Knowledge of AI/ML applications for industrial datasets to drive operational efficiency.
Salary
Assistant Research Professor: £47,389 – £59,966.
Contract Details
Fixed‑term: funds available for 12 months in the first instance.
