As a development manager you will be involved in projects from site acquisition through to final delivery and sales. You should have proven ability and knowledge in the UK and local planning process and be able to demonstrate a proven history of achieving planning approvals for residential schemes. Sound understanding of legal aspects related to land transactions, including agreements, contracts, and planning obligations, is essential.
The role of Development Manager
As Development Manager, you will oversee projects from initial land transition through to securing planning approval, ensuring each scheme is practical, financially sound, and aligned with wider business objectives. You’ll work closely with external specialists, liaise with planning authorities, guide design direction, and maintain a focus on delivering well‑considered developments.
Duties
- Driving forward development strategy, feasibility, design coordination, and planning activity
- Overseeing consultant teams to prepare and submit robust planning applications
- Establishing and maintaining productive relationships with landowners, planning officers, key stakeholders, and local communities
- Anticipating challenges and implementing solutions to keep projects progressing smoothly
- Monitoring budgets, timelines, and key milestones throughout the pre‑construction phase
Requirements
