Equans is looking for a Operations Manager to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle and benefits package.
General Overview
The Operations Manager is responsible for effectively planning, managing, and controlling construction projects and partnerships within the department. This includes ensuring close adherence to health and safety standards, budgeted expenses, quality, company policies and procedures, and contract documentation. The role involves being in full control of multiple sites with various clients in the region, covering all activities from pre-commencement to completion, with a dedicated team under the Operations Manager’s direction.
What will you deliver?
- Develop and maintain trusting relationships with clients
- Attend framework meetings and support company initiatives
- Understand client objectives and aims, maintaining excellent contact before, during, and post-contract
- Provide and encourage client feedback
- Ensure the team adapts to market and client changes
- Attend site visits and contribute to bid strategies
- Complete resource requirements and work with planners on program and logistics
- Seek innovative solutions to maximise opportunities for winning bids
- Produce achievable programs and preliminary budgets with the team
- Control consultants and lead the project team to achieve set targets
- Conduct client satisfaction surveys

Who are we looking for?
- Proven experience in a senior operational role within the UK construction sector (ideally residential, commercial, or social housing).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading multi-site teams.
- In-depth knowledge of UK building regulations, health & safety legislation, and construction practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L responsibility.
- Full UK driving licence.
- CSCS (Black Card), SMSTS, and First Aid at Work certified.
