Multi-Trade Operative / Multi-Skilled Engineer (Responsive Repairs)

Salary: 41,000 per annum + company van, fuel card & power tools Location: Hertfordshire (field-based) Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Role

A leading property services provider is seeking skilled Multi-Trade Operatives to join their responsive repairs team. This is an excellent opportunity to carry out high-quality maintenance and repair work, helping to maintain safe and comfortable homes for residents.

Working across a variety of domestic properties, you will be responsible for delivering efficient, customer-focused repairs while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:00am – 4:30pm), plus participation in an out-of-hours rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out responsive repairs and maintenance in occupied properties
  • Diagnose faults and determine cost-effective repair solutions
  • Complete works to a high standard with minimal disruption to residents
  • Liaise with scheduling teams to maximise productivity
  • Use a PDA/device to receive, update and complete work orders
  • Follow all health & safety and company procedures
  • Participate in an out-of-hours rota

Skills & Experience Required

  • Must specialise in one core trade (e.g. Plumbing, Carpentry, Plastering, Tiling, Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating, or Groundworks/Fencing)
  • Competent in at least one additional trade, with ability to carry out other trades to a good standard
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience using handheld/PDA devices for job management
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent)

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to undergo a basic DBS check (if required)
