The CFO Practice is recruiting a commercially focused Finance Director for the UK subsidiary of a high-growth, private equity-backed FMCG business undergoing a significant transformation and growth phase.
Partnering closely with the UK Managing Director, the Finance Director will be an integral member of the leadership team and play a key role in significantly scaling revenues over the next 5 years.
The role
This is a broad, high-impact Finance Director role combining hands-on financial leadership, commercial business partnering, and operational support within a multi-channel, product-led business. The successful candidate will act as a key partner to the UK Managing Director, helping to drive performance across multiple existing and emerging sales channels.
The right individual will thrive in a commercially focused, operationally involved and fast-evolving environment, with the opportunity to support a significant value-creation journey within an international group structure.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a strategic and commercial partner to the UK Managing Director, supporting the growth and development of the UK business
- Provide financial leadership across the UK operation, ensuring strong control, reporting, planning and performance management
- Build robust financial processes and improve the quality of insight available to support commercial and operational decision-making
- Partner closely with sales leadership across multiple existing channels and support the continued development of newer revenue streams
- Help drive improved visibility across margins, channel performance, working capital and operational efficiency
- Build strong and credible relationships with group finance leadership and wider stakeholders across the international business
- Act as a visible leader within the UK office and a trusted deputy to the Managing Director
- Lead and develop the UK finance team while maintaining a hands-on approach where required
- Support key external relationships with major customers and other commercial stakeholders where appropriate
About you
This role will suit a commercially minded, operationally strong finance leader who enjoys partnering closely with the Managing Director and the broader leadership team in a hands-on subsidiary environment. You are likely to bring:
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA)
- A strong hands-on finance leadership background within a product-led, consumer, retail, distribution or manufacturing environment
- Experience operating in multi-channel businesses, ideally with exposure to a range of sales channels
- Strong business partnering capability, with the ability to influence both operational and commercial stakeholders
- Experience working within an international group structure while retaining autonomy in a local finance leadership role would be highly desirable
- The credibility and communication skills to build strong relationships internally, with group stakeholders and externally with key customers
- A visible, proactive and grounded leadership style, with the ability to operate as a true number two to a Managing Director
This is an opportunity to join a UK leadership team at an important inflexion point and play a defining role in helping scale a well-established international business through its next phase of development.
