Overview
A leading financial services organisation is seeking a Data Governance & Quality Analyst to join its growing data function. This role sits within a central data team and plays a key part in ensuring that data across the organisation is accurate, well-governed, and fit for regulatory, analytical, and operational use.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior data leadership to embed robust data governance practices and improve data quality across the business.
The Role
The Data Governance & Quality Analyst will support the delivery of data governance and data quality initiatives, helping to establish strong data management practices across the organisation. This includes maintaining metadata, supporting data lineage, and ensuring adherence to governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on role requiring both technical capability and strong stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of the organisation’s Data Governance strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise frameworks and regulatory requirements
- Maintain and enhance data quality, metadata, and data lineage across key data assets
- Assist in the rollout and continuous improvement of the Data Governance framework, including policies, standards, and processes
- Work with business stakeholders to promote data ownership and stewardship
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business users to ensure data requirements are clearly understood and delivered
- Support the implementation and adoption of data governance tools, particularly Microsoft Purview and MDM platforms (e.g., Profisee)
- Perform data quality analysis, including:
- Reviewing dashboards and metrics
- Identifying and logging data issues
- Conducting root cause analysis
- Tracking remediation activities
- Contribute to regulatory compliance activities, including data protection and financial reporting controls
- Produce governance reporting, KPIs, and data quality metrics for stakeholders
- Maintain governance artefacts such as data definitions, lineage documentation, and issue logs
- Support training, documentation, and awareness initiatives across the business
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Data Governance and/or Data Quality role (typically 2+ years)
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and metadata management
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (essential)
- Working knowledge of Master Data Management tools (e.g., Profisee)
- Experience with data quality analysis and root cause investigation
- Understanding of financial services regulations and regulatory reporting requirements
- Knowledge of GDPR and UK Data Protection legislation
- Familiarity with data platforms (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes, cloud environments)
- Working knowledge of SQL and Microsoft data technologies (Azure, Power BI, SSIS/SSRS) is advantageous
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
