In addition to submitting your CV, applicants are also asked to prepare a cover letter. On the cover letter, please also include your right to work (e.g. the passport you hold) and your degree specification, if this information is not already on your CV. Scheme Overview
Ruffer’s graduate programme provides an opportunity to begin a career in investment management within one of two areas of the firm:
- Clients & Distribution
- Investment
During the recruitment process, candidates will gain insight into both areas and have the opportunity to explore which path best aligns with their skills and interests. Successful candidates will ultimately join one of these areas.
Both paths offer the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, gain hands-on experience from an early stage, and develop a deep understanding of investment management. Graduates will receive mentoring, practical training and support to pursue relevant professional qualifications as they develop their careers at Ruffer.
Across both areas, graduates will develop a strong understanding of financial markets, portfolio construction and Ruffer’s investment philosophy. They will gain exposure to internal investment discussions and work closely with colleagues across the firm to contribute to analysis and the communication of investment ideas.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrable interest in wealth / asset management, private wealth or investment management
- Have achieved or on track to achieve, a minimum of a 2:1 degree (or equivalent)
- Ambitious and driven mind-set
- Strong numerical skills
- Client service focused
- Strong IT literacy
- High standard of oral and written communication
The Application Process
- Stage 1 – CV and cover letter submission
- Stage 2 – Video / telephone competency interview with VWA
- Stage 3 – Aptitude testing
- Stage 4 – Interview with Ruffer (VC or in-person)
- Stage 5 – Final stage technical interview (in-person)
