Mechanical Calibration Engineer

Overview

Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is recruiting an HNC/HND level Mechanical Engineer to work at their state-of-the-art facility in Bolton, Greater Manchester. The role forms part of our client’s Calibration & Maintenance Team, providing technical support for the metrology department. To be considered, you will hold an HNC/HND level qualification AND be eligible for SC (Secret Level) UK Security Clearance as both the role and client site have ITAR nationality restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Supporting COTS (commercial of the shelf) equipment and STTE (Special to type test equipment) calibration and maintenance
• Assisting production with technical queries on fixtures and tooling, alongside supporting CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspection work
• Guiding operators on best practice within the metrology department on day-to-day technical queries, and looking at ways to improve processes and measurement techniques within the department
• Providing technical support for mechanical calibration such as high/low pressure & temperature calibrations

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification: HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience and knowledge of calibrating torque tools to ISO 6789-2:2017 required
• Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) required
• Experience and knowledge in dimensional calibration required
• Experience and knowledge of using and creating programs for coordinate measuring machine required
• Good knowledge of temperature and pressure calibration desirable
• Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently
