As a Cargo Claims Handler, you will be trusted to manage claims from initial notification through to settlement while contributing to loss prevention and risk management initiatives.
The Opportunity: As a Cargo Claims Handler you’ll play a key role in:
- Managing end-to-end cargo claims, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and timely resolution
- Investigating damage, shortages and service failures to determine liability and support fair outcomes
- Collaborating with insurers, surveyors, shipping lines and customers to progress claims effectively
- Negotiating settlements in line with policy terms and claim value, maintaining strong professional relationships
- Supporting loss prevention by analysing trends and sharing insights with internal teams
- Your work will directly contribute to improved recovery outcomes, reduced operational risk and stronger stakeholder confidence.
About You: We’re looking for someone who can bring:
- Proven experience in a Cargo Claims Handler role within insurance or shipping
- Strong technical knowledge of cargo insurance, incoterms and maritime legal frameworks
- Confidence in analysing complex documentation and making sound decisions under pressure
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders
- A collaborative mindset with attention to detail, adaptability and cultural awareness
Desirable:
- Experience shipping documentation such as Bills of Lading and Certificates
