Job Description:

UK Power Networks is seeking a motivated and ambitious Assistant Project Manager to join our Capital Programme team, based in our London office. This permanent role offers not only a competitive salary of 65,241 (plus Inner London Allowance and a 3% bonus), but also a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support your professional and personal wellbeing.

Imagine working closely with experienced Programme and Portfolio Managers, gaining hands-on experience across major capital investment and connections projects within the electricity utility sector. You’ll embark on a structured career pathway that will consolidate your existing knowledge and develop your expertise in general project management, all while supporting and learning from a highly skilled team. From the outset, you will play a key role in delivering assigned work packages and smaller value projects, with clear opportunities to progress to managing your own small to medium projects based on performance and regular reviews.

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of large and high-profile projects, working alongside project teams, commercial, design, procurement, and health and safety colleagues. You’ll provide essential systems expertise, particularly in SAP, assist in project approvals, and manage expenditure within strict budgetary guidelines. Your role will see you coordinate and attend team meetings, represent senior managers, and contribute to vital reporting-ranging from safety and client updates to risk management and lessons learnt. You’ll also liaise with multiple internal teams, from Quantity Surveyors to Design Engineers, and interact externally with local authorities, contractors, landowners, and other stakeholders, ensuring every project meets UK Power Networks’ policy and quality standards.

To succeed in this role, you should have a qualification in an engineering discipline (HNC level preferred), basic project management training, and ideally accreditations such as IOSH, SMSTS, ECS, CSCS, or NRSWA. Membership of a relevant professional institute (or demonstrable progress towards one) will be advantageous, as will hands-on experience in project delivery within the electricity distribution industry or similar. Exposure to customer and partner management will set you apart.

Don’t miss your chance to join a dynamic, forward-thinking team and make a real impact on the future of the UK’s power infrastructure. Apply by 14/04/2026 and energise your career with UK Power Networks. Click apply to view the full job description.
