Overview
Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced, confident and highly organised Executive Members Office Manager to lead and develop the team providing dedicated support to the Council’s Executive Members. This is a high profile and rewarding role at the heart of the organisation, working closely with elected members, senior officers and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Executive Members receive an outstanding, professional and responsive support service. As Office Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, management and continuous improvement of this service. You will ensure that effective systems, processes and resources are in place to deliver a high quality service that meets the needs of Our Executive Members, while also supporting and developing a skilled and motivated team. This role combines people management, operational leadership, political awareness and service improvement, and requires a calm, confident approach in a fast paced and sensitive environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Executive Members Office, ensuring an effective service is provided to Our Executive Members
- Build strong, professional working relationships with Executive Members, senior officers, MPs, external organisations and key stakeholders
- Lead on service planning, service review and the use of digital tools to modernise and improve service delivery
- Handle sensitive information appropriately in a political environment
- Support, motivate and develop staff, creating a positive and inclusive team culture
About You
You will be an experienced manager with a strong background in senior administrative or executive support, ideally within a political or complex organisational environment.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work closely with elected members and senior leaders
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Proven people management experience, including supporting staff through change
- High levels of political awareness, discretion and judgement
- Experience of using digital tools and new ways of working to improve services
- The ability to remain calm, professional and solution focused in a demanding environment
