Role Description

Building on our success and based on very exciting growth and expansion plans, we would like to recruit a Commercial Manager who is looking for an exciting and rewarding career path.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Commercial Manager will play a proactive role within the commercial team, developing relationships with new contacts and organisations in order to sell our portfolio of products and services. Our commercial products and services include subscription to our business intelligence platform, thought leadership reports, IT Cost, Innovation & Performance Benchmarking Club and bespoke private research reports and technology strategy workshops.

The successful candidate will have experience of selling products and/or services and will have strong interpersonal, negotiation and closing skills as well as the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, build and manage a target list of prospective new clients
  • Initiate contact with new business leads to sell a range of products and services
  • Researching, targeting, qualifying and closing revenue opportunities from new and existing clients
  • Responding to inbound enquiries and leads promptly
  • Create and send out proposals for bespoke work including private research and publication partnerships
  • Create and send out quotations for subscription to the Thetius business intelligence platform
  • Collating information from prospects and existing clients to feed back into product and service development
  • Conducting sales meetings either face to face or online to prospective, new and existing clients in order to generate new business
  • Conducting online demonstrations of our business intelligence platform to prospective, new and existing clients
  • Write and publish targeted marketing initiatives on LinkedIn and other social media channels where relevant
  • Represent Thetius at any international industry events or conferences as and when required
  • Ensure that all activity and deals are planned, conducted and recorded on the Thetius CRM system
  • Adding quality data and updating existing data on the Thetius CRM system
  • Work with the Commercial Director to negotiate commercial deals as and when required
  • Ensure that all documents, products and projects are delivered in a timely manner and as per agreed timescales
  • Identify new revenue streams and opportunities
  • Effectively demonstrate best practice and promote Thetius brand awareness at all times
  • General administrative duties wherever necessary
  • Long working hours as and when required

Skills & Experience Required

  • Ability to communicate and convey key messages effectively by phone, email, online meetings and face-to-face
  • Experience of working to targets and deadlines
  • A proven track record in sales, including developing new business
  • Experience of developing relationships with people at all levels within an organisation
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of work
  • Strong team player but able to work well under own initiative
  • Personal resilience with the ability to self-motivate
  • Demonstrates and promotes enthusiasm, commitment and capacity for hard work
  • Experience of working in a sales/ business development role in the maritime industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging technology in the maritime industry
