Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Business Consultant or Business Architect with strong London Markets experience and a deep understanding of underwriting operations and transformation. The role will focus on shaping the end‑to‑end business architecture for a large‑scale Underwriting Workbench initiative, ensuring that business change, process design, and operating model impacts are fully aligned with strategic goals. Experience working with low‑code solutions such as Unqork is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Define the business architecture and operating model required for the new Underwriting Workbench.
  • Lead high‑level and detailed As‑Is / To‑Be modelling, covering process, data, controls, and workflow.
  • Own and deliver the business change strategy, ensuring successful adoption and integration.
  • Partner closely with underwriting leadership to define future underwriting journeys and capabilities.
  • Provide architectural guidance to ensure solutions align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Support creation of programme‑level artefacts (roadmaps, capability maps, TOM documents).
  • Influence and steer decision‑making across business and IT stakeholders.
  • Facilitate executive‑level workshops and cross‑functional working groups.
  • Oversee impact assessments, business readiness planning, and transition states.
  • Act as a bridge between business teams and technical architects, ensuring a coherent solution.

Essential Skills

  • Strong background as a Business Architect, Business Consultant, or similar senior role.
  • Deep understanding of underwriting workflows, risk assessment processes, and delegated authority models.
  • Expertise in complex change environments, including Target Operating Model (TOM) design.
  • Strong capability in user journey mapping, process mapping, and business architecture frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into practical design and delivery artefacts.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in London Markets, preferably within Underwriting, Operations, or Transformation.
  • Proven experience contributing to or leading Underwriting Workbench design or implementation.
  • Experience with Unqork or other workflow/low‑code platforms (advantageous).
