Role Summary

Operates independently across RIBA Stages 2-4 on 2-4 concurrent projects, managing own deliverable programme with light-touch oversight from a Senior Engineer. Produces independently verified HVAC, public health and system designs. Writes mechanical specifications, attends design team meetings alone and coordinates with architects and structural engineers without daily direction. 

Essential Requirements

  • BEng (Hons) or MEng in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years post- graduate experience in UK building services design consultancy.
  • BIM MEP competent – understand how to navigate models and review drawings produced by CAD.
  • Proven ability to produce independent heat loss/gain calculations, ductwork and pipework sizing, LTHW/CHW system design without daily supervision.
  • CIBSE Guides A, B, C and G – interprets and applies without direction.
  • Part L compliance working knowledge – SBEM data input, system efficiency targets, evidence pack preparation for BCO.
  • Part F – can write a ventilation strategy report to the required format independently.
  • BS EN 806, L8 ACOP, WRAS – active working knowledge for public health design.

Desirable

  • Heat pump system design experience – ASHP or GSHP to MCS 020/021 technical standards.
  • IES VE or TAS dynamic simulation modelling capability.
  • BEMS control philosophy writing – sequence of operations, set points.
  • CIBSE TM59 and TM52 overheating assessment input experience.
