Overview

Job Title: IT Project Manager – Infrastructure

Department: IT Services

Location: While the role operates on a hybrid basis, candidates must be flexible, as there will be frequent periods where full‑time onsite attendance is required to support Estates‑related infrastructure works.

Job Purpose

We’re looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to deliver a range of IT and infrastructure projects supporting a wider infrastructure modernisation and digital transformation programme.

This is a hands‑on delivery role, working closely with IT Services, Estates teams, operational stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • End‑to‑end delivery of IT and infrastructure projects
  • Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules and budgets
  • Managing risks, issues, dependencies and change control
  • Leading project teams and coordinating internal and external resources
  • Working closely with Estates to support building moves, refurbishments and infrastructure works
  • Producing clear, accurate project reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Ensuring projects are formally closed and lessons learned captured

Infrastructure Areas May Include

  • Voice and telephony / unified communications
  • Audio‑visual and teaching space technology
  • Data centre, cloud or hybrid environments
  • End‑user computing platforms

Experience & Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • A recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent)
  • Proven experience delivering IT infrastructure projects in a complex organisation
  • Broad technical understanding of IT and infrastructure environments
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and governance
  • Experience managing budgets, risks, dependencies and multiple stakeholders
  • Confidence working with Estates, technical teams and external suppliers
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working on estates‑linked or capital infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to programme or portfolio management environments
