Works / Operations Manager Fabrication & Engineering

East Midlands | Mechanical & Civil Engineering | Senior Leadership Role

An established and growing mechanical and civil engineering contractor based in the East Midlands is seeking an experienced Works / Operations Manager to oversee operations within a busy fabrication facility.

The company specialises in the fabrication, welding and installation of complex pipework systems, structural steel and large-scale infrastructure projects across the UK including cross-country pipelines, AGIs and major civil works for national oil & gas clients.

Due to continued growth and major project wins, an opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Works / Operations Manager to lead the fabrication operations from the companys head office facility.

This is a key leadership role responsible for managing fabrication activities, supporting project delivery, and ensuring operational excellence across structural steel and pipework fabrication.

The Role

As Works / Operations Manager you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the fabrication facility, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

You will work closely with the senior leadership team and play an important role in planning, project delivery, estimating support and client relationship management.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a strong engineering leader with a background in fabrication, structural steel or pipeline projects.

Essential experience includes:

Minimum HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)At least 5 years experience within engineering or fabrication managementExperience managing structural steel and pipe fabrication operationsKnowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management SystemsExperience working with ISO 3834 and BS EN 1090 standardsStrong leadership and workforce management skillsAbility to read and interpret piping, structural and civil engineering drawingsExperience supporting project engineering and design managementStrong organisational and time management abilitiesProven experience completing risk assessments and method statementsCommercial awareness and project delivery focus

Desirable:

Experience using Microsoft Project or project planning toolsExperience conducting site surveys and producing drawings
