As our Spatial Data Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible to the Data Lead and form part of the OMNIA Data Team consisting of Data Analysts and Engineers. The position involves coordination across multi-faceted teams.This position requires a customer first mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability work in a multidisciplinary engineering team in a complex and evolving environment.
You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through Training and functionally through the Data Lead and within the Data Team alongside other data specialist (analysts, engineers, architects). Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the governance, management, and lifecycle control of spatial data supporting modelling and simulation (M&S) capabilities within ACTS
Please make an application promptly if you are a good match for this role due to high levels of interest.Develop, implement, and maintain the Spatial Data Management Plan (SDMP), ensuring compliance with MOD geospatial policies and standardsManage the ingestion, cataloguing, validation, and discoverability of geospatial data within the ACTS Content Catalogue (ACC)Ensure all spatial data is configuration managed with appropriate metadata, provenance, revision control, and traceabilityEstablish and maintain processes for spatial data acquisition, validation, integration, and lifecycle management in collaboration with the Specialist Geospatial Centres (SGCs)Ensure all GEOINT and spatial datasets comply with relevant MOD and UK geospatial standards (e.g. JSP 465, Def Stan 00-102, MGMP2, GEMINI2)Liaise with the MOD Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), including the SDI Gatekeeper, Spatial Data Assurance Group (SDAG), and Defence Geospatial Management Board (DGMB)Audit and validate spatial data holdings to ensure accuracy, currency, and operational relevance for training and simulation systemsIdentify and manage Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) dependencies across systems and maintain the PNT Dependency RegisterProvide spatial data expertise to design reviews, change control boards, and system integration activitiesEstablish effective working relationships with SGCs, MOD SDI stakeholders, and acquisition organisations to ensure efficient spatial data management
Required Skills and Experience:
