Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Controls Manager (Grade) to join our busy and expanding Natural Resources & New Energies team, undertaking a range of Controls & Performance duties on high‑profile projects/programmes. This role will provide opportunities to innovate, collaborate and learn from experienced Scope & Integration and Controls & Performance communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross‑discipline teams of project controls professionals to deliver effective, consistent, assured and value‑adding services across diverse programmes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project controls processes to create efficiency and increase benefits.
  • Define and implement project controls approaches at project, programme and portfolio levels.
  • Establish governance and assurance processes around project controls products.
  • Work with clients to develop relevant breakdown structure and support scope definitions.
  • Document scaled, tailored, integrated approaches for project controls (e.g., in a Project Control System Definition).
  • Define scope, manage exclusions, assumptions, interfaces, dependencies, and coordinate decomposition.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Project Team to establish robust, accurate Performance Measurement Baseline and manage change control.
  • Work with Project and Commercial Management to establish Supplier Project Controls contract requirements and collaborate with suppliers to integrate and analyse performance data.
  • Ensure scope, cost, risk and schedule integration and alignment; analyse performance data to provide delivery insight and facilitate decisions.
  • Train and coach clients and less experienced team members on performance and reporting processes.
  • Assure quality, accuracy and integrity of the team’s output.
  • Undertake line management activities including career development and performance management.

Who You Are

  • Ability to interact with senior management and deliver updates on Performance Management within complex environments.
  • Ability to lead a team and deliver performance management cadences, processes & reports for complex projects/programmes.
  • Guide team on appropriate use of systems and tools (such as Power BI and Excel) in performance management, analysis & reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, liaising with client, contractors and designers.
  • Embrace challenges and opportunities to drive positive change for clients.
  • Collaborate effectively and communicate to deliver best work.
  • Help others realise potential through proactive collaboration and effective teamwork.
  • Take responsibility for personal performance development and core skills.

  • Hold a UK driving licence or be able to travel to client sites across the region as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience applying multiple Project Controls disciplines (Planning, Cost Estimation, Cost Management, Risk Management or Reporting) across projects.
  • Practical experience integrating Project Controls disciplines and assessing team maturity and ways of working.
  • Experience managing stakeholders.
  • Experience using Project Controls software (Primavera P6, Active Risk Manager, Ecosys etc).
