Sous Chef – Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations. The Sous Chef will help oversee food preparation, maintain quality standards, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure a clean and efficient working environment. This role requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and the ability to perform well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
– Supervise and train kitchen staff – Ensure consistent food quality, taste, and presentation – Oversee food preparation and cooking techniques – Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation – Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies – Control food costs and minimize waste – Step in as acting Head Chef when required – Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations – Help develop new menu items and seasonal specials – Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
Required Skills & Qualifications
– Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior Chef – Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred – Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment – Leadership and team management skills – Excellent time management and organizational abilities – Ability to work in a fast-paced environment – Understanding of food safety regulations – Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
