Astutes Power Team are working with the Operator of a CCGT plant in South Wales and are currently recruiting for an Electrical Technician. This plant is able to produce 800MW of Power in a Combined Cycle configuration. The Electrical Technician position is a vital role within the Maintenance department responsible for the short & long term maintenance on all control system, measuring & instrumentation assets which are essentially the central nervous system of the plant. Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical Technician role: Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for: Carrying out fault diagnosis, repairs, planned and unplanned maintenance activities on all Electrical assets to ensure efficient operation of the site and to maximise plant availability. This includes motors, switchgear, HV plant, generators etc Carry out maintenance work in ATEX and COMPEX environments. Support where applicable maintenance on the Distributed Control System (DCS), Siemens S7 PLC’s and other assets. Supervising and directing contractors. Ensuring all work is carried out in line with company health and safety policies and procedures.
A relevant technical qualification such as an HNC/ONC in electrical engineering Ideally an IOSH or NEBOSH or Health & Safety Qualification The Electrical Technician role would suit someone who: At least three years’ experience in a similar role, post apprenticeship, in a heavy process environment/sector (e.g. power station, chemical plant, paper mill, refinery, steel works etc) Experience with maintaining electrical plant & assets including high voltage transformers, switchgear, UPS generators, motors, drives etc Salary and benefits of the Electrical Technician role Competitive salary Overtime We do not discriminate on the grounds of age, race, gender, disability, creed or sexual orientation and comply with all relevant UK legislation.
