About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading insurer for an experienced Third Party Claims Handler to join their growing team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload of public sector and housing related claims, within a supportive and professional environment.
The Role
As a Third Party Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing claims from first notification through to settlement. You will handle a range of liability claims and work closely with both internal teams and external partners to ensure efficient and fair outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of third party claims arising from public sector and housing risks, including Employer’s Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), damp and mould, defective premises, nuisance, and related matters
- Investigate, negotiate, and settle claims valued up to £50,000
- Support the Team Leader with technical input and day-to-day operational matters where required
- Liaise with internal stakeholders such as commercial underwriters and risk management teams
- Maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders including brokers, policyholders, panel suppliers, and loss adjusters
- Keep up to date with relevant case law and legal developments
- Conduct claims reviews and provide feedback to brokers and clients
- Carry out additional duties as required to support the wider function
About You
- Previous experience handling third party liability claims, ideally within the public sector or housing sector
- Strong knowledge of EL/PL claims and associated areas such as nuisance and defective premises
- Proven ability to investigate and negotiate claims effectively
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Detail-oriented with a proactive and professional approach
