Job Title: RF Lab Manager & RF IC Design Support (Contract)

Contract Length: 12 Months

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Location: Cambridge, UK

We are seeking a talented and motivated Electronic Engineer to join a leading semiconductor design team on a 12-month contract basis.

The role will primarily focus on RF laboratory management and operation, while also supporting a range of activities related to RF IC design, verification, and silicon evaluation.

This position is ideal for an engineer with strong hands-on RF lab experience, excellent practical debugging skills, and a solid understanding of RF measurement techniques and electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the relocation of an existing RF laboratory
  • Maintain and organise the RF lab and associated RF test equipment
  • Ensure the laboratory remains compliant with Health & Safety standards at all times
  • Support RF measurements and lab-based activities for the engineering team
  • Build and maintain RF measurement test stands
  • Perform RF PCB design and rework, including work on SMD components down to 0402 size
  • Support activities related to RF IC design and verification, including:
  • RF test and measurement
  • Pre-silicon mixed-signal simulation (CoSIM)
  • Silicon evaluation
  • Silicon IC product engineering

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant industry experience, ideally in one or more of the following areas:
  • RF or Analog Semiconductor
  • Cellular RF
  • Satellite communications
  • Detailed knowledge of modern RF test equipment and measurement techniques
  • Experience with RF test and measurement, including:
  • Precision measurement techniques
  • Understanding and mitigation of measurement uncertainties
  • Strong practical engineering skills with a solid theoretical understanding of electronic circuits and systems
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across different time zones and cultures

Desirable Skills

  • PCB design and debugging (OrCad, PADS)
  • Experience with Cadence Analog Design Environment (pre-silicon verification)
  • Data processing using MATLAB, Excel, or Python
  • Measurement automation using LabVIEW
  • IC Product Engineering experience, including:
  • Semiconductor chip and final test (CP/FT)
  • Silicon and package qualification
  • Test Time Reduction (TTR)
  • Production issue resolution (yield analysis, RMAs)
