MB are partnering with a leading UK retail and wholesale business. This is a perm role based in the South East.

We are seeking a high-performing New Business & Acquisitions Manager to drive aggressive customer acquisition across the independent retail and convenience sector.

This is a pure hunter role, focused on identifying, targeting, and converting new business opportunities. The successful candidate will have proven, like-for-like experience selling into independent retailers, symbol groups, or convenience store operators, with a demonstrable track record of winning new accounts in a competitive, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, target, and acquire new independent retail and convenience customers
  • Develop and execute a structured new business pipeline strategy
  • Convert prospects into long-term trading accounts through consultative selling
  • Conduct high-volume field-based prospecting (cold calling, site visits, networking)
  • Win business from competitors and drive account onboarding
  • Build strong relationships with store owners, decision-makers, and operators
  • Deliver against clearly defined new business revenue and volume targets
  • Maintain accurate pipeline reporting and forecasting
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and activation
  • Stay close to market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven track record in a new business / acquisition sales role
  • Direct experience selling into:
  • Independent retailers
  • Convenience stores
  • Forecourts
  • Symbol groups / wholesale environments
  • Demonstrable success in winning new accounts (not just managing existing ones)
  • Experience in a field-based, high-activity sales environment
  • True hunter mentality — thrives on winning new business
  • Resilient, tenacious, and target-driven
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Ability to influence and close at owner/operator level
  • High energy, self-motivated, and highly organised
  • Comfortable operating autonomously in a field-based role
  • Strong pipeline management discipline

  • Consistent delivery (and over-delivery) of new business targets
  • High volume of new customer acquisitions
  • Strong conversion rates from prospect to active account
