SolidWorks Product Designer (Sheet Metal & Shopfitting)

Location: Stoke-on-Trent (Talke Pits, ST7 1XW) Position Type: Full-time, Permanent Reporting to: Product Manager

• You are a proven expert in SolidWorks Sheet Metal (this is non-negotiable).
• You can work onsite at our Stoke-on-Trent factory daily.
• You have experience in Shopfitting OR in designing for advanced manufacturing (Laser/Punch/Pressbrake environments).

What You’ll Do

Your mission is to bridge the gap between client concepts and our factory floor.

• Precision Engineering: Develop functional sheet metal products using CAEM-specific K-factors and bend deductions.
• “Source of Truth” Modeling: Create 100% complete SolidWorks models—if it’s in the physical product (screws, rivets, brackets), it must be in the assembly.
• Factory Data: Generate all production data including Pack & Go files, cleaned DXFs for our lasers, and Bending Diagrams.
• Prototyping: Work directly with the shop floor to assemble samples, solve “quirks,” and refine designs for mass production.

• A Technical Engineer: You don’t just draw 3D shapes; you understand how metal behaves when bent and punched.
• Manufacturing Intelligent: You have a track record in CNC-driven environments and understand machine limits.
• Versatile: Comfortable integrating timber, glass, and acrylic into metal-core designs.
• Process-Driven: You prioritize engineering accuracy over speed.
